Timi's Website - Memoribilia

I just listened to the song "It's just a matter of time" and thought it was the best version I have ever heard',  did Timi ever produce this song in English?

I think she is the best female artist I have ever  listened to.

p.s. I think "Make the world go away"  is the best..

Regards to all .

Ray Burns

What a voice, what a talent.

It has been 5 years since her passing and it still pains me.

I'm a big fan of hers since the 50's.

Rest in peace my angel.

Russ Desrosiers

Dear Andylon,

Thank you SO MUCH for your kind reply. I have no reservations when I say that yours is the most well-done homage to any artist I've ever seen!

What a pleasure to discover so many great songs I've never heard before!

At the same time, I feel a little frustration for not knowing more about Timi's work years ago when the original albums were available.

Now what we see offered are in most of the cases the so-called  "compilations" and I must confess I'm not a compilation fan. I enjoy having the complete albums, exactly as they were released, not the same songs on many cds.

Well, anyway, it's time for digging for those treasures from the past and I'm sure I'll be successfull with your help.

The discography section of the website is like discovering a treasure.

Thank you again!

Jorge Carpes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

P.S. I've joined the Yahoo! Group, the forum  and the videos on youtube.

Hi,

I have been a big fan of Timi Yuro since the early 60s.

Your web site for Timi is brilliant and so informative, you have done a great job I am now searching the web for more cds that I might have missed.

It was so sad that she passed away.

Kind regards,

Trevor Lawrence

I am a new member. Great site and forum.

I have a lot of browsing to do to catch up.

I had no idea...when I purchased Timi's album, "Hurt," over 47 years ago, that I would be sharing in her beautiful legacy with her many fans.

Please provide a copy of Timi's last interview.  Thanks for all you do.

Tom T.

Hi,

would like to thank you very, very much for this great site, a real treasure.

Somwhere in the early seventies I once bought three records for the price of onethe third record was totally unknown to me, but I did like the sleeve as soon as I put this record on the turntable and heard that wonderful voice belting out: What's a matter baby? I was hooked.

Years later I had the very nice opportunity to have that first record signed by mrs Timi Yuro at a department store (De Bijenkorf) in the Hague, where she was promotingher new "dutch" record.

The most fascinating thing is, I never get tired of hearing Timi Yuro

My best whishes and please keep up this good work.

john

I never heard of her before a friend told me about her.

Wonderful singer. I will definitely buy her records.

Thank you so much.

So sad she died so young.

vincent

I've been a fan of Timi Yuro since Hurt and thrilled to find this site as I've also been a DJ (Radio and functions) since 1970.

I'm enjoying the rare recordings as well.  Still have all of Timi's singles and albums from the 60's and 70's. My favorite song, other than Hurt is Stardust.

My Birthday is on March 20th.  The really weird thing about this is My Mother died on March 20, 2004.

Love the site,

M.r. DJ Dan Terry

Hello Andylon,

As promised, I wanted to let you know about the DJ at the party on Saturday.

I had my suspicions about the D.J. in that he was a young man, probably born after Timi began her singing career. I had a meeting with him before the party began--- I was right, he never heard of our Timi. We fixed the problem immediately, and he had a “crash course” in Timi-ology. Believe me, he will never forget me!! I brought all my CDs (not Tenderly) and requested he oblige me and those guests who are in the 60 + crowd.

The average age of the party-goer was between 40-55 years of age. When the opening bars of “It’s Just a Matter of Time” played, I got the reaction I was waiting for. The guy who was doing most of the cooking at the barbecue stopped dead—I took notice and followed him around. I asked him if he knew who was singing—(I’ll never forget the look on his face--) he said “that voice can only belong to the one and only Timi Yuro”. We spent the whole day talking of Timi’s music. He gave me his experience with “Hurt”—at that time, he and his girl broke up and he never really got over her—so, Timi experience in reverse. DJ played a couple more tunes, but I did notice, people going to the DJ and looking at Timi’s CDs. That was good.

I have another surprise for Andylon as well. I went to the dentist on Thursday and was tied up for quite some time: 2 and a half hours, for a crown. I asked the dentist if it was OK to listen to my iPod while he worked on me… no problem. After drilling my mouth for one full hour, he asked me what I was listening to because I wasn’t moving or fussing. He wanted to listen--- so, I gave him the iPod and he was left breathless… He knew of Timi’s music from the 60s… He was very anxious and wanted to know where I found that music after all this time. However, I directed him to this awesome web-site and he went home to check it out. This was a real surprise for me, also.

Finally, Andylon, the radio station I contacted several weeks ago played “Hurt” again on yesterday’s show, which warmed my heart considerably.

I thought you might want to know about this. I will share on the Forum soon. At the moment, something is wrong with my home computer so I’m doing this at work. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved quickly.
Andylon, this web site is a blessing in more ways than you can possibly imagine. Please keep it going, and if I have to publicly advertise it, I will.

Will talk to you soon, Andylon—hope all is well with you.

Your Timi Friend,

Ann Marie

Dear Andy,

Why so sudden?... After I sent my e-mailed letter, I was so excited telling my family and friends I got a website of Timi Yuro's. We were all very happy to know it and that they were very happy for me that I discovered it...

As I am writing this down... I am crying... My hopes were very high knowing, at least I'll have that chance to talk or meet her... at least... but unfortunately, I was too late for that...
I didn't know... And it broke my heart knowin' it... but that's life and fate destined itself for it to happen.

I am still very thankful that you accomodated my letter and for letting me know the truth about her passing away... But I won't lose hope, still I have her songs kept inside my heart and it will always and forever remain in there... without regrets... but with pure love and sincerity to keeping close her songs and ideals... within me... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you....

Yes, please, allow me to join the membership for Ms. Yuro's site.

And yes, I still have a recording of my voice singing her songs. I do hope to sing once again, marking her in my singing.

Again my sincerest sympathy...TO LET THE WORLD KNOW! THAT....
Ms. Timi Yuro is ONE STAR that CANNOT BE REPLACED by anyone... The ONE AND ONLY... SUPERSTAR of my life!!!

I LOVE YOU MS. TIMI... I'll always be your no. 1 fan...Thank you for being my inspiration!

Andy, once again, thank you very much...

More Power and God Bless!

Respectfully yours,
Lady

Hello Andylon!!!!

This is a very beautiful makeover for Timi's awesome website!!

The colors are beautiful--- just when I'm getting used to navigating the entire website, you surprise all Timi's fans with this!!

I love it and I think it's a further tribute to the greatest blue eyed soul singer on the planet.. Keep up the good work..This is a true labor of love and certainly respect for Timi Yuro.

Ann Marie

I ALWAYS loved Timi's music..and was sad when she left us sooo soon.. I introduced her song"Hurt" to Country artist Mandy Barnett...who does it in her live act...AND brings the house down..Ironically..Mandy also does"Smile" in her shows.

She'll release a CD of Torch Songs soon..SOOO I hope she will include these songs. You can go on her site: www.mandybarnett.com..go to "listening" on the site...and hear some of her music!!

Ken Kostyra

Dear sir/ madame:

I just would like to let you all know that I am a FAN of hers. I started singing her songs when I was 15 and won singing contests through her pieces... HURT, CRY, I APOLOGIZE, LET ME CALL YOU SWEETHEART, etc. from then on I sang in many occassions, SHE WAS MY INSPIRATION! Funny, coz' when people hear me sing, they actually are reminded of her and they started calling me "LITTLE TIMI". Those were the moments,... but when my mother passed away (1998) my dreams were shattered and ended, and so was my singing... I stopped.

Last 2 days ago, at a local AM station here in our country, Philippines, I once again heard her songs and it gave me an idea to look up her profile at the web... and I finally found this... Thank you very much.

Oh my God! As I am writing down my letter, I am shaking. I just couldn't express my happiness and joy to have finally sent her my inmost insights and feelings... for my Idol.

I do wish and hope to meet her personally... hear her sing... have a signed autograph... get copies of her original songs and SING WITH HER... that would be the moment to know that... its COMPLETE... a dream come true!

I do hope my she reads letter my letter. Please...please...please... Send her my love and regards.

Thank you very much and More Power!

Respectfully yours,

Lady

I cannot believe I just found out about Timi Yuro as a singer?

What a wonderful singer she was.

Too bad I was not able to ever to see her in concert.
Good thing we have all these wonderful recordings available on iTunes.

John oh

I just found this site, didnt know it exsisted.

Let me tell you my quick Timi Yuro story. I am 62 years old and a big fan of the 50's and 60's music.
In 1969 I went to either the first or second "rock and roll revival show at the felt forum at Madison Square Garden hosted by I believe , Richard Nader.

This was his attempt of bringing back many rock and roll singers and groups from the fifties that were no longer in demand because of the ebtales etc.

The place was sold out, I was like 22, and I remember distinctively Timi singing hurt and then after getting an incredible warm standing ovation and loud cheering, started to weep so in the arms of Richard Nader. it was so emotional, and all of us cried with her.!!!!

Thanks,

Lenny Rosenberg

Dear Andy,

I wanted to thank you for posting information about my book.

Timi was truly one of a kind, and I don't think I'll ever hear or know anyone like her again.

This site is fascinating, and I'm just beginning to explore all the wonderful photos and stories.

Looking forward to staying in touch.

Best regards,

David

Hi,

I am now since over 40 years the absolute Timi Yuro fan (really crazy about her voice and songs) and I am amazed from the rare recordings.

I nearly got all her records and CD's but not all of them.

Gyl Redington

I am having the time of my life reading this fantastic website.

It is indeed a tribute to the finest "blue-eyed" soul singer EVER!!

I have loved her from 1962 and wondered what happened to those years when she basically dropped from the recording industry in the States.

Your site is fantastic and I am enjoying it everyday.  Timi Yuro will always remain alive as long as we hear her recordings and view the clips you so generously provided on this site.

Thank you.

Ann Marie

I have finally found my heaven. Timi Yuro has been my favorite female singer since the 60's.

Thank goodness for the internet. I could listen to her voice forever; songs I had never heard before.

I just can't break away.

Because of your listings I have been able to find these cds produced in London and for sale.

What a collection I now have.

Thank You.

Tom Egan

I am new to Timi Yuro but she is one of the best female singers I have ever heard

karen savins

Even though we have tragially lost Timi, she remains in our hearts for ever.
This lady should have been one of the top recording stars in her time, but for some reason never made it.

We will never know why, as to us she is the best, and nothng can come better than that.

Mike Rossiter, UK

Hi Andylon,

This is a wonderful site, a great tribute to a great lady. I just love the photo of Timi from 1982, taken in your home. I'd love to have an 8x10 of this photo. Timi has such a beautiful smile!

Thank God For The Music, which I teasure.

God Bless,

Randy

I have been a fan of Timi's since 1958. I loved her voice. My belated condolences to her family on her death.

She was a great artist. Her death was a loss. You have a lot to be proud of.

Peace on Earth.

Neil Rice

I enjoy the site what I can access, what do I have to do to sign up?

Thank you

Hi there!  I really, really, really, really think that Timi Yuro should have been a MASSIVE TALENT in America!!
I have a Best of CD by her an she could've and SHOULD'VE been a much, much bigger star, rather than a talented footnote in America! Dusty WHO? Phoebe WHO? GOOD GRACIOUS!

If she didn't own the '60's she should've owned the '70's or even the '80's with her fantastic voice! Jazz or R&B, she should've been a massive talent in either or both! WOW, I'm amazed by her!

Bill Chase

We have lost one of the greatest female singers - she sings to the soul.

Alessandro Chionaky

Few words to thank you for this website and say that I have always loved Timi, her way of singing, her songs...

I am old, 61, and I remember Timi when I was a kid: she was for me the voice of America, the America that I still love.

I cried a little when I knew she passed away, but believe me, she is still in my heart.

Alex

Just dropping a line, for I have enjoyed this website very much.

Growing up (I was born in 1969) listening to ms Yuro's songs and her extraordinary voice I've grown to be a big fan of her.

Seeing the video of her arrival at schiphol airport etc, it baffles me how humble such a great singer can be.

It makes me admire her even more. So thank you for sharing and educating.

with Love from Holland,

Maruaya

My husband who is ten years older than me, sent me a link to listen to one of her video's on youtube and I was completely blown away.

I grew up around music constantly and I do not remember hearing her name. This...is a shame, this woman had a lot of talent and I guess what I am trying to say is, it's sad that with the industry the way that it is, a lot of talented people get overlooked or never heard.

I am now watching all the youtubes' on her that I can find coz she is really, something else.
Thanks for this site and your dedication. What a voice...geesh.

God bless~

Cheryl Ann

Dear Andylon,

Thank you much for article, for your supporting Timi's site.

Have you ever imagine - heard Timi just some weeks ago firstly, in old jazz collection and... going mad with her voice... her songs and melodies...

Lossless - it's my mistake :)

Thank you

Jane
